Vietnam’s wood-timber exports to reach 25 bln USD by 2030

HANOI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Vietnam’s wood and timber exports are projected to reach 20 billion U.S. dollars by 2025 and 25 billion dollars by 2030, according to the newly approved national forestry plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.
According to the plan, the Southeast Asian country’s domestic consumption of wood and timber products is expected to reach 5 billion dollars by 2025 and 6 billion dollars by 2030, Vietnam News reported Tuesday.
By 2025, the income value from timber plantations per unit area should increase 1.5 times and by 2030, it should double, compared to 2020 levels.
Revenue from Vietnam’s wood and wood product exports hit 8.9 billion dollars in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 23.5 percent, according to customs figures. ■
