Motorcycling: Italy’s Francesco Bagnaia wins Japan MotoGP

MOTEGI, Tochigi (Kyodo) — Italy’s Francesco Bagnaia won the MotoGP class race of motorcycling’s Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday for his eighth victory of the season.

The Ducati rider, who started the race from second place, reduced championship front-runner Jorge Martin’s lead in the standings to 10 points with four races remaining.

Martin and Marc Marquez, both of Spain, finished second and third, respectively, at Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture.

Home favorite Takaaki Nakagami settled for 13th place.
